HOLLYWOOD, CA — The producers of the hit reality dating show “Love Island” have officially lost their minds, announcing a bizarre new spin-off titled “Cryptid Bunker: Love in the Apocalypse,” according to sources who may or may not be government agents.
“We’re ditching the tropical villa for a survival bunker of a foggy island off the Pacific Northwest,” said executive producer Cheryl Lacy, while casting contestants based solely on their ability to identify Mothman from a blurry photo. “Our hopeful romantics will live in a concrete panic room, rationing Spam and debating whether Bigfoot is a interdimensional being. The only way to win? Prove your love is strong enough to survive the impending collapse of society.”
The show will be co-hosted by an anonymous conspiracy YouTuber and a guy who claims he was abducted by aliens twice (but only remembers the one time).
This challenge was leaked to the press:
“Skinwalker Seduction?” where contestants are shown shadowy figures paired with distorted voice recordings — they must correctly ID whether it’s a legitimate cryptid or just footage of their partner’s toxic ex. Wrong answer? The “ex” gets to move into the bunker for 24 hours.
Each week, the least compatible couple will be “voted off the grid” and left to wander the woods alone. The last pair standing wins a lifetime supply of freeze-dried meals and a shotgun wedding officiated by a former CIA operative.
“This is exactly the kind of content I need while doomscrolling in my panic room,” said potential superfan Blaine Howard, who exclusively dates people who believe in reptilian elites. “Everyone knows extreme duress makes for lasting love.”
Cultural critics believe reality TV has officially jumped the shark — or, in this case, the chupacabra.
“We’ve reached peak absurdity,” said pop culture analyst Jessie Jimenez. “First, there was ‘Love Is Blind’, then ‘Naked and Afraid’, and now we’re literally locking cryptozoology enthusiasts underground to see if they’ll mate. What’s next? ’90 Day Fiancé: Area 51 Edition’? Nothing would surprise me. And also, I would watch that.”
At press time, a rumor was circulating that “Cryptid Bunker” features a final twist. The whole show is actually a social experiment funded by a shadowy organization that may or may not be the Illuminati. Tune in to find out — if you can still get Wi-Fi after the collapse.
